As you know, for those parents with swimmers in the competitive squads of the MMST, we are required to move Up the Ladder as Officials.

Please take some time in the coming weeks to log onto your OSOA account and update your files to reflect the meets that you have worked at and received sign offs. It is also recommended that you keep a log of ALL meets that you work at and as what official role weather it’s at a hosted MMST meet or another team’s meet. When the time comes for you to move to Level 3, that is required.

And speaking of which, I wanted to announce that THREE parents have now been awarded their LEVEL 3 from Swim Ontario at this past weekend’s Central Regions Swim Meet… Reese Lewis, Dave McCaig and Noel Apputhurai. Congratulations!!

There may be other swim parents who are now Official Level 1′s or Level 2′s but not everyone has updated their OSOA account. Once again, please take some time to do so ASAP in order to have an accurate account of what level our swim parents have achieved.

MMST is hosting the MASTERS MEET at the MSC on Sunday March 4 and with that being the same weekend as Provincials, we will need as many parents volunteering as possible so watch for details soon…. and check out the MMST website for a list of May and June swim meets that we are hosting as well!! So there is still lots of opportunity to look ahead in order to arrange to volunteer and get your sign offs as you continue to move Up the Ladder.

OSOA is hosting the meet and is looking for officials to work the meet. The meet is double ended so 16 timers, 2 stroke / turn judges, 1 starter and 1 referee per end. It will provide good experience for Level 3′s working on Level 4. To assist in getting timer and S & T judges, OSOA is offering a $25.00 per person per session bonus to the clubs who supply officials to a maximum of 20 people per end.

- Friday session warm-up at 5:00pm start at 6:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: am warm-up at 8:00am start at 9:00am pm warm-up at 12:00 starts at 1:00

The officials list will be on a first come first served basis. If 1 club wishes to take a complete session please respond quickly to ensure availability. Please send names, position and which session(s) to be assigned or Club name and session wanted to Dave.Denyer@sympatico.ca. If the session requested is full you will be notified by return e-mail.

Note from the Meet Manager:

We are set to have a very busy and rewarding meet. We are still looking for some officials, so if you are willing to poll the parents in your club and see if anyone would be willing to help I us I would dearly appreciate it. The stands will be quite full, so they’ll have the best spot to see the action!

 Here is a list of positions still available (note that Marshalling assistants can be untrained volunteers – we use them to ensure the swimmers stay together down to the starting blocks to avoid mix ups. The meet is full and we do not want any delays on the starts).

Registration for CR Clinics will be required online via www.osoa.ca prior to the date = online registrations for clinics due before Monday, March 19.

Open Water Swimming is a clinic that is added and is important this year, as Welland, ON is hosting a Jr. Worlds Open Water Swimming meet in August.

CR Clinics Agenda includes a morning session with clinics running concurrently and the Central Region Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held just before lunchtime (in between clinic sessions), followed by an afternoon session with clinics running concurrently.
