Jamie Brough, Head Coach
Jamie joined the Marlins in the fall of 2006 as Head Coach. Coming to us from his native Australia, Jamie’s unique style of coaching accommodates each swimmers individual goals and experience by adhering to his advanced training techniques.
He was Head Coach of the Queensland ‘Open Water’ team in 2005 and was selected as a coach for the Australian National team at the 2004 World Open Water Championships. In addition to his experience as a distance coach, Jamie has coached sprinters to national and state championship finals. Jamie has also been involved in international development camps for FINA (swimming’s international governing body) and delivered lectures on swimming to swimmers and coaches in both Asia and Canada.
During his short tenure with the Marlins Jamie has helped Team members achieve more than 70 Club Records and an ever increasing number achieve Provincial Standards. The Marlins have continued to perform at a Provincial and National level with numerous medals coming from each Championship.

Laura Goodman
Laura has been involved with the club since 1994. She started coaching with the team in 1996, where she guided many of our current top swimmers in their formative years as coach of the Mini Marlins. Laura will be focussing her coaching efforts on our Bronze swimmers as well as assisting with the Mini Marlins. Laura is also an accomplished Masters swimmer with the newly established Milton Marlin Masters Swimming and is still competing at a Provincial and National level. |
Jonathan Boyd
Jonathan joins us for a fourth season as our Mini Marlins coach. He has been a high school teacher for 30 years where 28 years of that have been spent coaching the high school Cross Country Team. He’s also coached boys softball for 8 years and boys Hockey for 3 years. Jonathan’s daughter was once a member of the Marlins which gives him a sound working knowledge of our club and its coaching philosophy. His depth and variety of sporting experience is certainly an asset to our young Mini’s and their progression through the Milton Marlin Swim Team program. |
Sheryl Ross
Sheryl is returning for her 2nd year as Novice Coach of the Marlins. Sheryl spent a number of years in Calgary where she was working as an elementary teacher and more recently a mom. Sheryl has also worked with the top swimmers in Canada at the National Sports Centre in Calgary and was once a national level swimmer herself, attending Nationals for swimming nine times, with her best placing being 6th in Canada. Sheryl has extensive knowledge in the science and art of training, holding a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition. She is excited to use some of her expertise and experience with the swimmers of the Milton Marlins. |

Garrett Lyall
Garrett started his swimming career with the Milton Marlins Swim Team in 1996. Throughout his swimming career he also swam for Etobicoke Swimming, and the Cobra Swim Club and was a provincial champion in the 100 Fly, attended Nationals for 50 Fly and 100 Fly, was a member of the Ontario Tour Team in 1998 and was a member of the 1998-1999 Etobicoke Swimming relay team that broke 6 national records (3 of which are still standing), and currently holds 8 Milton Marlin club records.
He started coaching with the Cobra Swim Club in his senior swimming years as an I Can Swim coach and was able to continue coaching with the Belleville Youth Swim Team in 2003 where he worked with the I Can Swim program, with their development programs and as their Masters coach. He is a certified Skills Coach and is looking forward to continuing his education while working towards achieving his Competition Coach certification. |
Sarah O’Neil
Sarah is excited to start her first season with the Milton Marlins! Sarah trained as a competitive swimmer from age 9 to 17. During that time she competed at the junior national level and attended both national and international meets. Sarah’s specialty was long distance freestyle events.
Sarah comes from a diverse background of working with children. Sarah coached gymnastics for two and a half years while attending the University of Western Ontario. She also conducted therapy with children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder for the past year and a half. Her passion for teaching children has led her to teacher’s college, which she is currently attending. Sarah believes that swimming is unmatched in its ability to develop self awareness, confidence, strength, and perseverance. She is looking forward to working with the Marlin swimmers and helping them reach their individual goals.

Carrie Clark
Carrie has been with MMST since 2009 where she took the lead with our Learn to Swim program. Carries swimming experience started in the mid 1980′s with the Hamilton Wentworth Aquatic Club. A Butterflyer and Backstroker by nature, she now teachers our young athletes the makings of great technique and skills in all the competitive swim strokes. Carrie is a mother of 3 young swimmers who are also members of the Milton Marlins Swim Team.
